Broms for Dengue

This blog is a tribute to science, health research and our Bromeliad fanatic friend TC Smith.

During our visit to the Parque de Aves (Bird Park) in Iguassu in the Brazilian side of the “gotta be seen to be believed” Iguazu falls, spotted this sign.  Having had 7 years in Nth Qld and a  LSM who suffered from Ross River fever, it was interesting to see that the cultivation of broms was aiding research in to the suppression of dengue fever.

So it was with increased respect for TC’s obsession that I captured a few of the broms in flower as we meandered our way through the bird sanctuary.

And one of bamboo for good measure………..enjoy my friend 😀
